Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAf) has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, reflecting significant progress in advancing its growth, governance, environmental stewardship, and societal leadership commitments. Covering the period from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, the report details the company’s performance against key sustainability targets, verified through independent third party assurance.
Aligned with the global ISUZU Environmental Vision 2050, the report highlights IMSAf’s integrated approach to creating long-term value for stakeholders while addressing Africa’s unique social, economic, and environmental challenges.
“Sustainability is not an add-on; it is a core pillar of our business strategy, we have deployed clear sustainability objectives into our day-to-day operations, supported by rigorous and continuous monitoring of performance metrics,” said Billy Tom, President of Isuzu Motors South Africa. “We are proud of our achievements, but more importantly, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what sustainability means for our industry and the communities we serve.”
Key 2025 highlights:
Growth
Maintained the number one position in South Africa’s Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle segments for the 12th consecutive year.
Expanded product innovation, including the launch of a locally manufactured Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck to reduce emissions.
Governance
Sustained level 1 B-BBEE contributor status for five years in a row.
Continued third party verification of sustainability data to ensure transparency and credibility.
Environment
Achieved zero waste to landfill in Isuzu Motors South Africa operations for the ninth consecutive year.
Recorded a 7.03% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions year-on-year, exceeding the ISUZU Environmental Vision 2050 midterm goal of 50% reduction by 2030.
Implemented advanced metering to improve water usage accuracy, supporting a cumulative 40% reduction in water consumption since 2018.
Societal Leadership
Continued investment in education and community development, including disaster relief projects in floodaffected Eastern Cape communities using reusable packaging scrap material from manufacturing operations.
Created over 45 additional jobs through its circular economy wastemanagement initiatives.
