Despite the global financial crisis, Isuzu has remained a consistently profitable business. This is as a result of rigorous streamlining and boosting the efficiencies of its operations.

In 2019, Isuzu sold 306,000 commercial vehicles and 342,000 light commercial vehicles. Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSA), established on 1 January 2018, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited - the first outside of Japan. This local operation is an important base for Isuzu’s long-term investment in Africa. IMSA employs more than 1,000 South Africans directly. Through dealerships, suppliers and our body repair network, this increases to over 25,000 people.

For the last seven years, IMSA has proudly occupied the number one position in South Africa’s medium- and heavy-duty commercial truck segment.

ISUZU’S AFRICAN SOUL

Isuzu trucks first reached South Africa’s shores in 1964. By 1968, the range had been extended from 7.5T to 15.5T, all powered by diesel engines.

Light commercial vehicles soon followed and by 1978, Isuzu KBs were in full production at our plant in Port Elizabeth which remains in operation today.

We are committed to providing outstanding aftersales and customer support, establishing close relationships with local partners and ultimately, expanding our business.
