Service New Vehicle Warranty
All Chevrolet, Opel, Isuzu, Hummer, and Cadillac vehicles sold after March 23, 2009, will be warranted by General Motors South Africa for 5 years or 120,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. This warranty will start from the original in-service (date of first registration) date of the vehicle.
General Motors South Africa as a Manufacturer warrants each new motor vehicle, including all equipment and approved accessories to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service.
The Manufacturer's obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing at its discretion, any part or parts thereof which shall within five (5) years or 120 000km from date of first registration, be returned to an authorised Dealer of General Motors South Africa at such Dealer's place of business, and to which examination shall disclose to the Manufacturer's satisfaction the part to have been defective.
The repair or replacement of defective parts under this warranty will be carried out by an authorised Dealer without charge for parts, and if made at such Dealer's place of business, without charge for labour.
The provisions of this warranty will not apply to any motor vehicle which has:
- not been serviced according to the General Motors South Africa recommended service & maintenance schedules (click here for Servicing info)
- been serviced or repaired outside of the General Motors South Africa Authorised Dealer Network
- had accident, paint, corrosion and body repairs by a non-approved General Motors South Africa Body Repairer
- not been fitted with approved GM Accessories
- been subjected to misuse, negligence or accident damage
- been used for rallying or racing
- been modified, particularly to increase vehicle performance (this includes the installation of 'plug-in' performance microchips or similar modifications)
- been altered in any way so as, in the judgement of the Manufacturer, to affect adversely it's performance and reliability
This warranty shall not apply to normal maintenance schedule services and the replacement of service items (such as spark plugs, filters, belts, oil) and normal wear & tear or abuse of all friction materials (clutch & brake lining).
It is mandatory that vehicles be thoroughly inspected for signs of corrosion at every service interval. If corrosion is detected, the area must be repaired within thirty (30) days of detection, using only Genuine GM parts and panels.
If the vehicle is sold, the balance of this warranty is transferable to the new owner provided the transaction takes place within five (5) years or 120 000km of the date of first registration.
